Electricity Generation sector examines solutions that decrease carbon emissions using renewable energy and other enabling technologies. Drawdown solutions in this sector take advantage of the diversity of energy resources available in different world regions. Some energy supplies are utility-scale and require industry and agency support (solar farms, nuclear, offshore wind, wave, and tidal), while decentralized technologies such as rooftop solar, biogas, or micro-wind can be implemented by individuals, businesses, and communities. Additional solutions that enable transitions to zero or negative carbon electricity by 2050 include energy storage, grid flexibility, and microgrids.
